1. Where is Church Located? 
Salem Church is located in downtown Huntingburg on the main shopping business street, 4th street. We are two blocks east of the intersection of 4th Street and Route 231.  There is a map on the site for your convenience. MAP

2. What should I know about the worship services?
For communion, usually the first Sunday of the month, all Christians are invited to communion regardless of denominational membership. Usually communion is served in the pews. Our worship services are generally a blended style usually including one of our four choirs, hymns and/or choruses, the reading of Scripture, special music, responsive readings, a time of greeting each other, and a sermon. The service normally lasts one hour from 10 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.  We don't put visitors on the spot. There is normally a special children's message.
Informal dress is OK.

3. Where is the nursery and children's rooms?
There is an active nursery during the service on the first floor near the church office.

4. Where to park?
You will find a parking lot behind the, North of, Church. You may also park on the streets in front or sides  the Church.

6. How do most people describe SalemChurch?

7. Which doors are handicapped accessible?

The Walnut street entrance is handicap accessible, also elevator is available to Sanctuary.








                                      HISTORY SECTION 

First church service was in 1842 as the Evangelical Lutheran and Reformed Protestant Congregation

First official church board was organized on December 30th, 1842

Construction of the first church building started in the spring of 1844 - total cost was $99.95

Construction of the second church building started in 1859 at the corner of 4th and Walnut

Our denomination was called to join the Evangelical Synod of the West in 1860

On December 26th, 1889, it was decided that the church should be know as the German Evangelical Salem Church

Construction of the parish hall started in 1928

On August 9th, 1936, a new constitution was adopted to change the name of the church to Salem Evangelical and Reformed Church of Huntingburg. In 1957, our church became Salem United Church of Christ
